Dear readers, Happy almost-holidays! Writing to you from my fiance’s apartment in Boston where I’m knees-deep in course readings, hair unkempt, never not in pajama pants and slowly losing my mind over term papers. (Is there a word for the delirious pleasure of being in the work flow for so long that your soul leaves your body? I don’t know but they should invent one; something perpindicular to
Yay for the substack switch!! I'm a new fan that read (marinated in) the entire Poppy War trilogy in two glorious weeks. This week I have my hands on Babel <3 I'm also a History graduate and (now ex) debater. So naturally you've quickly become my idol, inspiration and favorite author. 😆 Also so excited to hear that we'll have the chance to order signed copies internationally! Good luck with the rest of the fall term
Oh I love this, hopefully you make it to Australia!!
I’m currently reading Yellowface, and I’m absolutely loving it! I work at HarperCollins in Aus and so I get accesshh to a lot of books early! You’re quickly becoming my favorite author - your command of language is incredible, and your characters are so nuanced! 😍
You're my favorite author!! I read The Poppy War trilogy in one week. Once I survive this term and I'm free for Christmas break, I will finally be able to sit down and enjoy Babel! Good luck with the rest of fall semester, you are more than capable! :^)
Not an actual question, but since you're on a Gaiman binge, the Ocean at the End of the Lane play is going to be on tour from this month, so that might be something you'd be interested in checking out?
And would love to have you back on your in the UK (am still so sad to have missed you in Manchester last time!) Hope you'll have a wonderful December ahead!
Hi! Apologies for this question that has little relevance with your actual post, but I saw online earlier this year that you were thinking of writing a prologue for the poppy war. Are you still planning on doing so?
I loved tpw and I'm currently reading babel! It's amazing so far, and I just have to say that the title sounds like something straight out of jstor
We'll be waiting for you here in the West Coast! Thank you for switching to a platform that allows subscribers to interact with the newsletter and good luck with this term :)
What has been your favourite Neil Gaiman book so far? Also, do you have any plans on coming to Singapore for events or signings anytime soon? - I'd love to buy signed copies but shipping from the UK is... pricey 😅
Hi Rebecca, a huge fan of your work! I'm so excited to be able to comment your newsletters and I really hope you come to Seattle. ❤️ I'm so excited for Yellowface and I know you're super busy!! But I must admit I'm waiting anxiously for any news about your Jiang story/Poppy War prequel you mentioned back in spring. Here's hoping for an update soon, and best wishes for 2023!
You're such an inspiration, and I hope you come back to DC soon!! Do you think you would ever do a rundown on juggling coursework, writing, and reading for pleasure?

I thought The Road was excellent, read it on Boxing Day last year and it's stuck with me since. The sparse prose and use of grammar was a masterstroke
