Dear readers,
This has largely been a hibernating fall for me. I take my qualifying exams at the end of April (three subfields, fifty to sixty books per subfield, pray for me!), I’m teaching Asian American history, and I’m working on two books at once (the second one was a surprise, but if the story is calling, I’ll make time.) Still, I’m glad I get to break up the stretches of deep work with some local travel. It keeps me sane! I have a handful of events coming up next month on the east coast and Toronto; all links below.
Heads up NYC - I’m so excited for my NYPL event on October 26. I have never done an event with live music so when they told me they’d booked mxmtoon I was floored! I love her music; this month I’ve been singing “Mona Lisa” to myself every Monday and Wednesday morning as I walk to the lecture hall. Live tickets sold out a long time ago but it will also be live-streamed.
UK folks - I’m also doing an event at the British Library in December, so my publisher is building out a few more stops in London and Manchester around the trip. More news when I have it.
Nov 12: Cambridge MA, Porter Square Books
Nov 16: Madison CT, RJ Julia
Nov 18: Toronto, TIFF Bell Lightbox
Love,
Rebecca
Will make the time to come to the UK for this! Best of luck for your qualifying exams
Any chance of a tour near GA someday? 🥺
